Ulrich<\/a> (pictured) that I follow on <a href=\"http:\/\/https:\/\/class.coursera.org\/design-2012-001\/\">coursera.org<\/a> (great site btw, which is changing access to knowledge in a very significant way), I came across the Kano framework to classify the user need. <strong>Vertically<\/strong> is the user satisfaction (if the user is satisfied or not) and <strong>horizontally<\/strong> is if the need is addressed or not (or can be partly adressed). Here is the framework:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/debane.org\/franck\/wp-content\/uploads\/kano-framework.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/debane.org\/franck\/wp-content\/uploads\/kano-framework.png\" alt=\"kano framework\" width=\"958\" height=\"542\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/debane.org\/franck\/wp-content\/uploads\/kano-framework.png 958w, https:\/\/debane.org\/franck\/wp-content\/uploads\/kano-framework-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/debane.org\/franck\/wp-content\/uploads\/kano-framework-500x282.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 958px) 100vw, 958px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>User needs can be plotted in 4 curves which are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t care<\/strong>: either it&#8217;s here or not, but not all users care: for instance on a search engine it could be the need to search for images.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Linear<\/strong>: the better it&#8217;s done, the more satisfaction the user for the search engine it could be to find an answer to the query, this is provided by the relevance of the search results.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Must have<\/strong>: If it&#8217;s not there, the user is un happy. For search engine, it could a way to enter the search query (search box).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Latent<\/strong>: Little things, un-expected that create delight. For instance the &#8216;see from cache&#8217; or &#8216;translate page&#8217;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the design course by Karl T.
