In the guide Lean startup: where to start

Text excerpt: at a meta-level businesses are more alike than unalike, with a bulleted list from customers to innovation

I’m echoing Ash Maurya’s weekend reflections on Tactics vs. Principles.

Principles are universal, regardless of your business.

Tactics are specific, adapted to your context.

Here are some business principles Ash is proposing:

  • All businesses have customers,
  • Customers seek value,
  • Value comes from solving problems,
  • Problems come from existing solutions,
  • Problems well understood lead to better new solutions,
  • New solutions create new problems,
  • Innovation == solving problems before the competition.

To which I would add: all solutions are temporary.

What do you think? Do you agree? What other business principles would you add?
