Struck by the speed of Chinese innovation
I was in China last week and was struck by how fast this country is moving and how advanced they seem. Mobile payment by QR code has overtaken cash and credit cards. Cities of millions of people are built from the ground up in only a few decades. Things are happening at a scale that we can hardly imagine in our western world.
I saw and heard stories of Chinese innovations: Haier's exceptional innovation practice and management, Transsion, a leading mobile company in Africa, addressing key pain points like narrow coverage, hard to recharge phones and unadapted distribution to local markets and Luckin the Chinese company trying to take down Starbucks by addressing the waiting line problem and only allowing coffee orders by phone and then organising the quick collect. They are opening 50 new stores every week!
This article explains their approach and ambition.
