In 1996 Moebius, the French comics artist Jean Giraud who shaped the look of Alien and The Fifth Element, gave a short manual for cartoonists in 18 tips, published by the Mexican newspaper La Jornada. Open Culture presents it with the annotated translation by the illustrator William Stout. The first tip: before drawing, set aside strong feelings such as hate, joy or ambition, which block creativity.
